Erin Patterson Loses Appeal, Gets Life Without Parole
Victoria’s Court of Appeal on Friday (Melbourne time) dismissed Erin Patterson’s appeal against her convictions for murdering three of her estranged husband’s relatives and attempting to murder a fourth with a beef Wellington laced with death cap mushrooms in 2023. The three judges also upheld prosecutors’ appeal, scrapping her 33-year non-parole period, so she will never be eligible for release. Justice Stephen McLeish called the offending “extraordinarily cold and calculated.” She can still seek special leave to appeal to the High Court of Australia.
