Rubin Telescope Finds Possible New Dwarf Planet Past Pluto
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory announced its first dwarf planet candidate, 2026 ED138, about 46 times farther from the Sun than Earth, beyond Pluto’s average distance of 40. It is estimated at 600 to 1,500 km across. Astronomers still need size measurements to confirm it is round enough to count as a dwarf planet.
