U.S. Economy Grows 3.4%, Beating Forecasts
The U.S. economy grew at a 3.4% annual rate in the third quarter, up from 2.2% in the second quarter and above economists’ forecasts of about 3.1% to 3.2%, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis said Thursday in its advance estimate. A separate report showed PCE inflation at 3.6% from a year earlier in September; core PCE, which excludes food and energy, was 3.1%.
