Israel Count: Netanyahu Bloc at 53, Short of a Majority
With regular ballots tallied, Israel’s Central Elections Committee figures give Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc 53 of 120 Knesset seats, the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot 48 and Arab parties 19, a record high. Neither bloc has the 61 needed to govern alone. The results are not final: about 600,000 double-envelope ballots, including soldiers’ votes, are still to be counted over the next few days.
